DALLAS, Jan 14, 2014 — Kohl’s Department Stores has donated nearly $400,000 through its Kohl’s Cares Program to support the Kohl’s Sports Health and Wellness Outreach Program at Children’s Medical Center.
The Kohl’s Sports Health and Wellness Outreach Program at Children’s provides sports injury collateral and speakers to several local youth organizations to educate coaches, parents and athletes about sports injuries and prevention. The program educates more than 15,000 coaches and 100,000 children annually in North Texas to identify ways to avoid injuries while playing sports.
“We greatly appreciate Kohl’s for its continuous generosity to Children’s,” said Kern Wildenthal, M.D., Ph.D., president of the Children’s Medical Center Foundation. “The company and its volunteers’ ongoing dedication to sports health and wellness have supported our overall mission to make life better for children.”
Since 2000, Kohl’s has donated more than $3.5 million to Children’s Medical Center. In addition to the financial support, Kohl’s volunteers have given in excess of 285 hours of time to Children’s in 2013 alone.
Kohl’s commitment to Children’s Medical Center is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl’s has raised more than $231 million dollars through this merchandise program. In addition to the merchandise program, Kohl’s Cares® features the Kohl’s Cares® Scholarship Program, which last year recognized more than 2,300 young volunteers with more than $400,000 in scholarships and prizes. Through Kohl’s Associates in Action volunteer program, more than 669,000 associates have donated more than 2.2 million hours of their time since 2001, and Kohl’s has donated more than $63 million to youth-focused nonprofit organizations. Kohl’s also offers fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations. For more information, visit www.Kohls.com/Cares.
