DALLAS, Sep 10, 2013 — Children’s Medical Center today announced it has again earned top honors in the InformationWeek 500 ranking, moving up to 25th to earn a place in the Top 100 for 2013. In 2012, Children’s ranked 122nd in the U.S. In the Heath Care and Medical category specifically, Children’s ranked 11th, up from 16th in 2012.
Annually, the publication identifies the nation’s most innovative users of information technology in its InformationWeek 500 listing and also tracks the technology, strategies, investments and administrative practices of some of the best‐known organizations in the country. This year marks the fourth time Children’s has earned this prestigious honor, and the first time to rank in the Top 100. The full list is available at www.informationweek.com/500.
In 2013, InformationWeek recognized Children’s for its consistent use of technology to improve the patient experience. One of the hospital’s innovations evaluated by the publication included Children’s Chart, the Electronic Health Record (EHR) that Children’s extended to independent private practices. Children’s Chart allows Children’s to work with pediatric practices in the region and provide enhanced quality of care, patient safety and, ultimately, better patient outcomes.

According to Pamela Arora, Children’s chief information officer, this significant rise in rankings is due in part to Children’s Chart being supported by one of the most robust and widely used EHRs available. “With Children’s Chart, we are able to provide a comprehensive medical record for each patient by facilitating a two-way flow of information between the private practice and Children’s for those patients who also receive care at Children’s. This level of collaboration creates a clearer picture of a patient’s overall health situation, thus enabling the medical team to provide the best care possible to the patient.”
