DALLAS, Jan 10, 2014 — Children’s Medical Center Dallas, the sixth-largest pediatric hospital in the U.S., announced it has named W. Robert Morrow, M.D., executive vice president and chief clinical officer.
Dr. Morrow will serve as a Children’s physician spokesperson and provide medical leadership across the organization, including the clinically integrated networks. As a member of the Children’s executive leadership team, he will participate in strategic decision-making and long-range planning critical to the hospital’s continued success as a first-class pediatric health care provider.
“Bob is a seasoned physician with an extraordinary 26-year career in pediatric medicine, and I am pleased to welcome him to Children’s,” says Christopher J. Durovich, president and chief executive officer of Children’s Medical Center. “He will play an integral role as we balance our current model of health care provision with future needs and requirements to sustain our progress and continue to honor our 100-year legacy of making life better for children.”
“I believe in the unique, comprehensive approach to health care delivery at Children’s, which includes treating the whole child,” says Dr. Morrow. “Children’s is dedicated to caring for children in all aspects of health – when they are sick and when they are well. Whether they are providing primary care for children in their communities so fewer are admitted to the hospital, or treating nearly 200,000 patients annually, the innovative model at Children’s is transforming the way pediatric heath care is delivered. I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
Most recently, Dr. Morrow served as senior vice president of medical affairs and chief medical officer at Arkansas Children’s Hospital and the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) where he served as a professor of pediatrics, the associate dean for children and the chief of pediatric cardiology. During his 17-year tenure at Arkansas Children’s Hospital, he was responsible for the medical care, physician professional accountability, graduate medical education, advocacy, community outreach and telemedicine.
Dr. Morrow is an internationally recognized pediatric cardiologist and expert in heart transplantation in children. He holds a Bachelor of Science from Baylor University and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine. He completed his residency in pediatrics at The University of Washington and Children’s Orthopedic Hospital (now known as Seattle Children’s Hospital).
