DALLAS, Jan 10, 2013 — Christopher J. Durovich, president and chief executive officer of Children’s Medical Center (www.childrens.com), expands his service to pediatric health care this month when he becomes the chair of the Children’s Hospital Association board of trustees.
Durovich, formerly the board’s vice chair, will lead the 13-member board representing the nation’s children’s hospitals as it oversees efforts to improve child health by advancing the delivery, cost and quality of pediatric health care and by affecting public policy.
“Chris’s pragmatic style and his extensive experience across pediatric care, adult care and physician practice management make him the ideal leader to chair our board,” said Mark Wietecha, president and CEO of the Children’s Hospital Association and board member. “Under Chris’s leadership, the children’s hospital community can continue to collaborate on solutions to improve children’s health care.”

A seasoned leader who has spent more than 30 years in health care, Durovich’s new responsibilities begin at a critical time for children’s health care. The Children’s Hospital Association and its member hospitals are focused on ensuring a health-care system meeting the health needs of our children. Fiscal pressures at the state and federal levels pose rigorous challenges for pediatric hospitals.
Under Durovich’s leadership, Children’s has become one of the nation’s finest pediatric hospitals. It is the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties by U.S. News & World Report. Children’s provides more than 600,000 patient encounters a year as it helps make life better for approximately 200,000 children.
Prior to joining Children’s Medical Center Dallas in 2003, Durovich served in leadership roles most recently at the University of Texas M.D. Anderson Cancer Center and Baylor College of Medicine. He earned a Master of Management (MBA) from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and is a fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives and in the American College of Medical Practice Executives of the Medical Group Management Association. He is also a member of the American Hospital Association board of trustees and participated on the boards of the Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA), National Association of Children’s Hospitals and Related Institutions (NACHRI) and the National Association of Children’s Hospitals (N.A.C.H.).
