DALLAS, June 14, 2013 — Children’s Medical Center (www.childrens.com) has been named one of the top pediatric hospitals in the nation in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals survey released today.
Children’s, the fifth-largest pediatric hospital in the nation, was ranked one of the best in each of 10 critical clinical programs evaluated by U.S. News: cancer, cardiology and heart surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, digestive disorders, neonatal care, kidney diseases, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedics, respiratory disorders and urology.
Children’s is the only hospital in north Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties and achieved the number one ranking in orthopedics. Other rankings were:
- Neurology and neurosurgery, No. 14
- Cardiology and heart surgery, No. 19
- Gastroenterology, No. 16
- Cancer, No. 28
- Urology, No. 16
- Diabetes and endocrinology, No. 27
- Neonatology, No. 41
- Pulmonology, No. 32
Children’s increased its ranking in two other specialties this year: pulmonology and urology.

Children’s Medical Center’s ranking in Orthopedics is shared with Texas Scottish Rite Hospital.
Children’s provides nearly 700,000 patient visits annually, including 170,000 emergency room visits and more than 27,000 surgeries.
The U.S. News survey examined 179 pediatric centers to obtain clinical data in 10 specialties and asked a total of 1,500 pediatric specialists were where they would send the sickest children in their respective specialties.
