DALLAS, June 14, 2022 — Children’s Health, one of the largest and most prestigious pediatric health care providers in the country and the leading pediatric health care system in North Texas, is proud to announce that Children’s Medical Center Dallas, its flagship hospital, has once again been recognized among the nation’s best pediatric hospitals by U.S. News & World Report for 2022-2023. Children’s Medical Center Dallas continues to be the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties in the U.S. News & World Report’s annual Best Children’s Hospitals report, which is based on patient treatment outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices.
“We are honored to once again be recognized for our commitment to consistent clinical excellence across all 10 specialty areas by U.S. News & World Report, which reaffirms our leadership position in pediatric health care in North Texas and the nation,” said Christopher J. Durovich, president and chief executive officer at Children’s Health. “We are particularly gratified to be able to maintain this esteemed position through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, which is a testament to the dedication and tireless efforts of our entire Children’s Health team who are working every day to make life better for children. Together with our academic physician partners at UT Southwestern Medical Center, we are proud to provide our community with access to the best, most advanced care in the nation close to their home.”
The U.S. News & World Report rankings are the most comprehensive source of trusted information on U.S. pediatric hospitals, compiled with the purpose of providing families a reliable starting point as they decide where to receive pediatric care for their children. This is the fifth consecutive year that Children’s Health has been recognized with this distinction. In addition to this ranking, Children’s Health continues to garner national recognition as a result of its world-renowned pediatric physicians, innovative technology and academic affiliation with UT Southwestern – one of the premier academic medical centers in the nation.
“We share a commitment to innovation and compassion in the expert care we provide to pediatric patients and their families through our work with Children’s Health,” said Dr. Daniel K. Podolsky, president of UT Southwestern Medical Center. “This national recognition year after year reflects the effectiveness of our partnership in delivering on that commitment.”
To create the pediatric rankings, U.S. News & World Report gathers key clinical data from nearly 200 medical centers through a detailed survey that evaluates measures such as patient safety, infection prevention and adequacy of nurse staffing. In addition, part of each hospital’s score is derived from surveys of more than 15,000 pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest children in their specialty. RTI International, an independent research and consulting firm, then analyzes the data and ranks the top 50 children’s hospitals in each of 10 pediatric specialty areas. As well as being the only pediatric hospital in North Texas to be ranked in all 10 specialty areas, Children’s Health also attained the highest ranking locally for each area.
